Min Sijin Akka

I have been looking for this song online for a while now, and I finally found it..so yippy!

If my dandy link does not work , since I am so new to blogging it is min sijin Akka..

Sorry to any non arabic speaking visitors, you will have no idea what I am talking about.

Can anyone listen to this song and not tear up?? It is my all time favourite song, I think over the years I have heard thousands of times. The first time I heard it I was about 6 or 7. We were driving in Lebanon, to go for a picnic and the song was playing. When he got to the part about dying like lions, I laughed so hard. What did I know I was so young, and did not understand. My much older cousin who was visiting us from Saida (Saidon) at the time was in the car with us, and she explained to me what the song is about, and ever since that song has a special place in my heart.

To anyone who does not know what the song is about, the song is called (from the Akka (Acre) prison, a funeral has emerged)In brief, during the British mandate of Palestine and their assistance to the zionist activities, our people started to resist and were faced by the British occupation who sought to crush them without mercy. Tuesday was known as the day of execution (by hanging - believe it or not!). The three heros: Mohammad Jamjoum, Fu'ad Hijazi and Ata Az-Ziir were scheduled for "mass execution" and after handing their will to their relatives and saying farewell to their moms, dads and sisters, they competed to the hanging ropes in a display of heroism that lived and will continue to live in our memory. The song is very emotional and if you understand Arabic, it is hard to control your tears. (from http://www.palestine-net.com/media/)
